Nach dem Start in Hof folgen wir der Autobahn A72 in Richtung Nordosten und nehmen zunächst Kurs auf die Spitzenstadt Plauen. Kurz hinter Plauen kommt bereits das vogtländische Meer, die Talsperre Pöhl in Sicht, gefolgt von Elstertal- und Göltzschtalbrücke. Wir verlassen das Vogtland und überfliegen Zwickau, dessen Dom schon von weiten gut sichtbar ist. Hier ändert sich unser Kurs nach Süden und die Landschaft wird zunehmen hügeliger.
