About SIAI-Marchetti

SIAI-Marchetti is an Italian aerospace construction company founded in 1915, acquired by Agusta in 1983. It had its heyday between 1920 and 1940 when it was still called Savoia-Marchetti. Its specialty was the construction of civil seaplanes, with the company being one of the pioneers in this sector. The company experienced rapid growth in the mid-1930s with the arrival of its first aircraft, notably with its SM.79 model. Ultimately, SIAI-Marchetti disappeared in 1997 after its integration into the Italian public aviation group Aermacchi, which itself belonged to Finmeccanica.
