Today it is one of Scotland's most popular attractions and is visited by over 2 million people per year. Walk to the castle via the charming Royal Mile and arrive in time for daily 1pm cannon fire at the castle entrance. Fly over Edinburgh and you can take in the castle, Arthur's Seat (an extinct volcano on the outskirts of the city) and the spectacular Forth Bridge spanning the Firth of Forth.
