Yes. According to the European regulation (see art. 6 paragraph 4a regulation (EU) no. 965/ 2012) pilots are allowed to share flights as long as the aircraft does not exceed 6 seats and has a non-complex power unit. Furthermore pilots are only allowed to share the costs, they are not allowed to make any profit on the flight. Wingly's policy is that the pilot pays the same share of the flight as the passengers, or more. We have received written confirmation from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), stating that flight sharing and the advertising flight shares is totally legal, so long as the pilots do not generate profit on the flights. We have also signed a Safety Charter with the EASA engaging ourself to promote a safety culture to our community. Finally, we have the same letter of confirmation from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in the UK. In other words, because the flight remains a private one, the pilot does not need a commercial pilot’s licence to share his cost with passengers. Learn more about the regulation of flight sharing .
You pay only your pro-rata share of the costs and a Wingly service fee of 15 % plus £4. Pilots are not allowed to generate a profit on the flight. The direct flight costs include fuel oil, landing fees and aircraft rental fees.
While most pilots listing flights on Wingly fly small single-engine piston airplanes that carry from two to six passengers (including the pilot). Wingly lets you search for flights by point of origin, By entering the location you would like to fly from or destination airport or city. You can find an oversight of all current flights offered on our flight map.
You can go wherever pilots are already going for discovery flights, round trips or one-way adventures. If your dream destination isn’t already listed you have the possibility to post a flight request to pilots of the area. They will answer you if they are interested by flying with you.
As many pilots often fly very spontaneously, we wanted to come up with an easy solution to find people for flight sharing easier. Instead of posting a flight on a fixed day, you can simply say that you are for example flying every weekend. When a guest then contacts you, it is easier to agree on a time.
When you find a flight that meets your requirements, you can submit a passenger flight request. Pilots will usually respond within a few hours.
Sign in and search for a flight in your area, connect with a pilot and share the cost. On the day of your adventure, meet at the meeting point and in minutes you’ll be airborne!
After leaving the plane it is entirely up to you! You can rent a bike, car or just take the bus to the city centre. Ask the pilot he may know the area and offer advice on what to see and how to get there!
You will see a booking details page with all the necessary information about the airport, meeting point and time. The total cost will be withdrawn from your credit card and we will keep the money until the flight happens. In the case of flight cancellation we will refund you the full price paid.
Weight limits will vary by type of aircraft and number of passengers; specific weight and luggage limits for all flights are set by the pilots. As a prospective passenger, you will be asked to provide your weight and that of any individuals in your party. Weight limits are extremely important on smaller aircrafts; therefore we ask that you submit accurate information and respect any luggage restrictions. Pilots may refuse to carry any passengers who submit inaccurate information.
We offer credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Diners), PayPal and direct debit (Giropay, SOFORT) payments.
When booking a flight you will have to select the payment method for the booking. We then authorize the total amount on your credit card but will not charge it. If you use a different method of paying, we direct charge your account. Once the pilot approves or refuses you, the money will either be withdrawn or the authorization removed. In the case of flight cancellation, the money will be refunded automatically. Paypal refund will be immediate, any other options may take up to 72 hours. Otherwise you do not have to do anything else.
If the pilot cancels your flight due to weather or other reasons, you will be notified immediately by mail and through a message on your mobile phone. In the case that we have already withdrawn your money you will automatically be refunded. Paypal refund will be immediate, any other options may take up to 72 hours. Everything is automatic and you do not have to take any further action.
No. Wingly is not a commercial airline or a charter service, meaning flights may be cancelled for any reason including weather conditions or the pilot's discretion. As there are no scheduled routes, you are simply sharing the ride with a pilot, we cannot guarantee everything will go as planned. Anyway, in case of cancellation without the possibility of rescheduling the flight, you will be refunded.
No. Aviation regulations prohibit a pilot from accepting compensation from passengers. We help you split the costs, but you are not allowed to compensate the pilot any further.
In the worst case and that’s when the pilot is not there 30 minutes after the meeting time without any notification of his absence t or cancellation of the flight, you can send us a complaint so that you get a full refund. Within 3 hours of the planned flight time you will receive an email asking you to confirm if the flight happened or not. To solve this problem Click the ‘No’ button, fill out the complaint form, send it back to us and we will come back to you in the shortest delay of time.
You may visit the Wingly website and not being able to find a suitable flight. With a Flight Alert, you can add the destinations you want to go to and receive an email reminder to notify you if a flight has been added for any of your destinations. You can unsubscribe from this mail at any time.
A discovery flight is a flight where you depart and arrive at the same airport. You go around over beautiful scenery or a lovely city, take photos and videos and maybe even share a romantic moment with your partner.
Pets are allowed on Wingly flights provided but it depends on the pilot. If you want to bring a your pets with you, please ask the pilot if he is okay with this beforehand.
Wingly is not a commercial transport and should only be used for leisure travel. If you have an urgent meeting the trains or commercial transport will be more reliable.
Normally the pilot will indicate a clear meeting point in the booking/flight details. Just to be sure you and the pilot will receive each other's mobile phone number to be able to keep the other one up to date concerning the arrival and the exact meeting location.
Flying in a small plane is an amazing experience capture the memories. Thus we strongly advise you to take your camera with you and bring back amazing memories from your flight. If you send it to us we will share it with our community
The easiest is of course by car. If you are dependent on the bus and train you will come really close as well, but you can as well, always ask the pilot from which direction they will arrive and if they would mind taking you along.
In case, you are not able to find a suitable flight, there is the possibility of creating a flight request. Its purpose is to propose a start and landing destination, a specific timeframe or dates you are looking for, but couldn’t find so far. In order to reach a huge amount of possible interested pilots, the flight request is a simple way to get in touch, without sending numerous messages.
You are allowed to cancel your flight up to 48 hours prior to the date of the flight and you are guaranteed to receive a full refund. If you wish to cancel the flight after this period, you will have to contact your pilot as soon as possible in order to request this. If the pilot is unable to cancel the flight during this period, please contact customer support on firstname.lastname@example.org Please note: If you wish to cancel a flight please do so in time to prevent misunderstandings.
If the pilot has informed you pilot via the Wingly messenger, SMS or phone that the flight won't happen, but has not canceled the flight via Wingly (you will receive an automatic SMS and email confirming a cancellation) you need to contact your pilot to cancel the flight. If you have not received this notification please contact support at email@example.com.Important: After the flight's execution date, you will receive an automatic email to confirm if your flight happened. Please ensure to click on the link and notify us about the flight not taking place in the 48 hours following the date of the flight.

It’s simple – just list any trip for which you are looking for passengers by clicking on “Add Flight”. You need to be registered to do so. Passengers who have a common destination can submit a request to accompany you for their pro-rata share of allowed costs. Wingly will handle all details, including collecting funds from passengers and depositing them in your account. In any case, if there may be questions arising we are always reachable through email, we help you with every step of the way.
For rented planes, allowable shared costs include rental and fuel costs (rental plus fuel for “dry rate” planes, full rental cost for “wet rate” planes). Pilots flying their own airplanes can share fuel expenses and airport landing and tie-down costs associated with the trip. The Wingly system does not allow amounts paid by any passenger to exceed their pro-rata share of the above costs.
There is no charge for pilots to list a flight on Wingly. Listing a flight is quick and easy. To add your flight, simply click “Add a Flight” from any page that you might be on. You will be prompted to submit your flight and aircraft details.
Since many pilots often fly very spontaneously, we wanted to come up with an easy solution to make flight sharing easier. Pilots can offer flights with flexible times on fixed dates and you can then easily request to share the flight on a specific time. It makes it smoother for both parties to find a suitable date to fly together.
When creating a Flexible Flight, for each selected day in your time period there will be a flight offered. If a passenger then books this flight, the time is automatically set to this time (under your approval after you have accepted this booking date). At this specific day, there is then no further Flexible Flight offered. For a second flight on that day, you need to add a new, normal flight with a fixed date. Currently it is also not possible to do single exceptions in the selected time period. For a pause in this period, for example for Christmas, you would have to create two separate Flexible Flights, one until, and one starting after Christmas.
This is very simple. Under "Payment Options" on "My Account" you will have to add your flying bank account information. Once the flight was has taken place, there is a 48h window until our payment provider wires you the money. When the money is wired, it takes the average SEPA processing times. You do not have to do anything else.
Passengers have to enter the total weight of each passenger and luggage when booking. You will always be able to see if a user takes too much weight or not. Then you can decide whether to approve the passenger on your flight or not depending on their weight.
Yes. When a passenger submits a request to accompany you on a flight, you will be notified by email and may accept or decline the request. Passenger requests include brief personal information about the requester. In addition, you will have an opportunity to ask the requester follow up questions before making a decision.
When adding a flight you will have to set a meeting point. At the time and date arranged you meet the passengers at the agreed location. In addition, you will also be able to see the passenger’s phone number to notify them about last minute changes. The passengers will also see your phone number after being approved.
Do not worry, all flights arranged through Wingly are subject to delay or cancellation at pilot’s discretion. If you want to cancel a flight, do it through the Wingly platform. Click on "Flight Management" and select your upcoming flight. You will then see a button for "Delete Flight". Please always proceed like this, as it is an important requirement of our Terms of Service.
When adding a flight you can set a fixed price for a seat. If you spend more time than estimated we are sorry to inform you that there is no way of getting a higher amount of money. Please ensure that you calculate the appropriate costs of the flight before hand. In case of an unplanned diversion please contact us as we can handle this on a case by case basis.
Simply fill out all the information on the "My Account" pages. We need your phone number, address, passport, licenses and flight log verified to offer our community the safest experience.
We want to create a welcoming and secure atmosphere at Wingly. We need validate that you have the legal rights to fly in light aircraft and carry passengers. Your documents are strictly confidential and encrypted only used for internal verification. We will never download or save your documents but delete them immediately after the verification process. Nevertheless granting us access will create a safe environment on the platform for every user.
We love to share our passion with as many people as possible, we want to encourage the passengers dream, make a child's’ wish come true and give them a sneak peak of their upcoming adventure. The title picture can be one of your own amazing photographs or a nice picture found on Google or Pixabay.com with the right to be reused for private and commercial use.
After a passenger has made a booking on a specific flight you offer, you simply have to accept it and therefore finalise the payment. You will receive an email, a sms and a notification on Wingly so that you can not miss a passenger booking request. Please consider, that the passenger booking request for the flight will be automatically declined in case of non-accepting or non-declining of a passenger within 3 days. Please do ensure you answer your booking requests even if you are unavailable to fly with the person on that date as you can always reschedule to fly with them another time.
In case, a passenger doesn’t find a suitable flight, he/she can create a flight request. Its purpose is to propose a start and landing destination, a specific timeframe or dates the passenger is looking for, but couldn’t find so far. In order to reach a huge amount of possible interested pilots, the flight request is a simple way to get in contact with the pilots without sending numerous messages. Specially if you are a pilot with a lot of time but not a specific flight in mind, you can always get inspired by the flight requests.
If your flight did not take place and you had passengers booked on the flight, please ensure to cancel it in your flight management via the Pilot App or the Website. You have 24 hrs time to cancel the flight. In case you want to change the date and reschedule the flight, you can do this up to 6 hrs after the flight's execution date. Please ensure to notify your passengers and that they are well informed throughout this process.
The passenger is only able and allowed to cancel a flight 48 hours prior to departure. If the passenger wants to cancel during the 48 hours leading up to the flight, It's up to the pilot's discretion to then accept or refuse this cancellation request. If you do not wish to cancel the flight, please ensure both of you contact our support on firstname.lastname@example.org directly. The passenger has up to 48 hours after the execution date to notify us that the flight did not happen. We will send him an automatic SMS and email with a link to do so. However, please contact us for support to notify us as well.
