Hawarden Airport

EGNR

Located on the Wales-England border, just south of Cheshire, Hawarden Airport (EGNR) was a key location in the Second World War. The airport was a base for numerous military aircraft as well as a factory. The RAF's No. 48 Maintenance Unit was formed at Hawarden in September 1939. Until July 1957, they stored, maintained and scrapped military aircraft, including the Handley Page Halifax and the de Havilland Mosquito.
